Paramount Production Privacy

Scope
Paramount is a leading global media and entertainment company that delivers premium content and experiences to audiences worldwide across studios, networks, streaming services, live events, merchandise and more.
This privacy policy explains our practices — and your choices — on how we collect, use, and share information including personal information, both online and offline, in relation to our film, television, digital media, live and digital events and other activities related to production such as identifying and developing material, recruiting and casting crew and other talent, capturing footage, production, broadcasting, distribution commercialization and promotional activities (including advertising and marketing activities) and any other associated activities (we refer to these activities collectively as “productions”) from any individuals in connection with their participation (before, during and after) in a production including without limitation:
- individuals applying or auditioning to be in our productions,
- guests or audience members,
- production cast members, featured performers, talent, extras and presenters,
- support team or crew members including writers; and
- any other individuals who provide Personal Information or whose Personal Information we collect in relation to our productions.
We refer to this broader group of individuals as “productions participants”.
This Policy does not create any contract with you or an employment relationship.
How this policy interacts with other policies
Paramount maintains various privacy policies which apply based on the context of your relationship with Paramount. This policy applies to the way your personal information will be used in the context of a production and supplements any other Paramount privacy policy provided to you in the context of our relationship with you, including without limitation, and as applicable, the Paramount Privacy Policy, the Workplace Privacy Notice or Recruitment Notice. This policy shall be read in conjunction with those policies. In the event that there is any inconsistency between this policy and the aforementioned policies, this policy shall take precedence with respect to how your information is used in the context of productions.
If we will use your personal information in a manner different from what is described in these policies, we will provide separate notice to you with further explanation on that use as required by law.
This policy does not cover the practices of third parties when they are acting independently, including production partners, distributors, broadcasters, social media platforms or other third-party platforms and those that may disclose information to Paramount or collect information from or about you (including, but not limited to, third-party production companies, certain casting agencies and companies providing test screenings) as part of a production, and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policies, which we recommend you review.
Information we collect about you
We collect information about you related to your role in a production, including in the context of application, invitation or participation to a production. We also collect information from other sources (including where production participants provide us with the personal information of other individuals). Please note that the personal information we collect about you may be combined with personal information we collect from third parties.
Information you provide
- Casting/application information collected as part of recruitment or casting for a production (such as for casting applications, audience registration, production management), including but not limited to, your name and contact information, age and date of birth, demographic information, professional and employment-related information experience (including educational background), application or registration information;
- Information related to your physical appearance where this is relevant to your role in a production (such as information that may be required for hair, make-up and wardrobe);
- Information necessary for the administration of the production such as performance and continuity notes, report sheets, shooting schedule, the scene, date and time as captured on clappers;
- Health information (mental and physical) where this is relevant to your role in the production, for example where the role demands a certain level of fitness, or you have a condition which we need to make arrangements for such as an allergy or an accessibility requirement;
- Your Opinions: to the extent that these are relevant to your role in the production;
- Other sensitive information that may be relevant to your casting or role in the production, including related to your race or ethnic origin, your religious or philosophical beliefs, your sexual orientation and sex life, and information regarding your commission or alleged commission of any criminal offense; and trade union and guild memberships information;
- Travel information where Paramount is assisting with any arrangements for international travel in relation to your role in a production;
- Photographs, videos and/or sound recordings in any medium in connection with a production, including recordings submitted by you or that we take during the casting process and/or a production;
- Correspondence in any media or format you send to us;
- Personal information collected about you offline (including via mail, or in person during a production casting process, when you attend one of our events or generally when you participate in our productions);
- Financial information including but not limited to banking information and tax information; and
- Information required forsecurity of our sites, platforms and facilities (such as the information we use to authenticate your access to restricted areas and information we collect to monitor the security of secure areas including via CCTV and cookies and similar technologies)
Please refrain from providing information if we did do not ask you to provide it.
Information we collect from third parties
- Publicly available information, including social media profile information, information posted online or on other platforms;
- Information we collect in the course of conducting background checks. Where background checks are conducted and where legally required, we will provide any relevant additional information to help you understand the extent of the checks and the rights that you have; and
- Opinionsaboutyou including the opinions of friends and family and those of medical providers and other registered health professionals to the extent that these are relevant to your role in the production.
Information About Others
We may collect and use information about other individuals when you provide information about them. Please ensure you have the relevant authorization or consent of such individual, or in the event the other individuals are minors, that you are the parent or guardian of the minors with the authority to consent for or on behalf of them before providing their information, as applicable.
How We Collect Your Information - Sources
Where permitted by applicable law, we may collect information about you, directly from you or from your agent, or from other sources, such as:
- casting agencies, talent agencies, casting tools and platforms;
- co-production or third-party production companies;
- medical providers and other registered health professionals in connection with the production;
- individuals for whom you provided contact information;
- communications with friends, family members, and/or people connected to you in connection with a production (for example, where this is relevant to your role in a production, or in the context of an emergency where you have listed such individuals as your emergency contacts);
- online reports and directories;
- fraud prevention and detection agencies and organizations; and
- background check organizations; and
- social media platforms and other platforms or publicly available sources where you may have published information about yourself.
How We Use Your Information & Why
We may use your personal information in connection with our production activities as detailed below or as the law otherwise permits.
Our contractual relationship with you
We may use your personal information as part of the contract we entered into, in connection with a production. These activities will be indicated by the relevant contract and will relate to the performance of our obligations (such as providing payments, benefits, and a safe and secure environment) and your obligations (such as obligations to be available at certain times, contribute to the production in the ways set out in the contract, and maintain confidentiality obligations). If you refuse to provide information that we require to manage our contractual relationship, we may not be able to perform our obligations under the contract and participate in a production.
Legal obligations
We may use your personal information when we are required by law. For example, to fulfil our legal and regulatory obligations relating to equal pay and treatment, safeguarding, auditing, recordkeeping, tax reporting, right to work, and responding to government and judicial requests.
Legitimate business purposes
We may use your personal information when we (or a third party) have a legitimate interest in using your personal information. Our legitimate interests may include: to produce, broadcast, promote and otherwise exploit a production commercially; to manage a production including project management, budgeting, asset allocation, casting and crew recruitment and management; to respond to and defend against claims; and to ensure business continuity and the safety of our personnel, properties, sites and platforms; communicating with you and responding to your questions; managing contests, giveaways, competitions, sweepstakes, offers, or promotions, including verifying your eligibility and selecting winners; performing social media activities, market research, surveys, and product testing; running advertising and marketing campaigns for our own or third-party products and services; managing social media interactions and user-generated content; exercising our rights and remedies and defending ourselves against legal claims; preventing fraud and other illegal activity, claims, and other liabilities; complying with and enforcing relevant industry standards, our terms, policies, and other rights.
Where the laws applicable to our use of your personal information do not recognize contract or legal obligation as a lawful basis for the uses described in those sections, we may rely on our legitimate interest instead.
Consent
We may collect your consent for various legal reasons. For example, under data protection law, there are certain sensitive information types and certain uses of information for which we are required to obtain your explicit consent. When this applies, we will explain the specific use and information type when we collect your explicit consent.
We do not generally rely on consent as our basis for using personal information under data protection law unless no other lawful basis is available in the law of the relevant jurisdiction.
Note that in the event your consent is required, and you do not provide it, we may not be able to process your application for productions and you may not be able to participate in the production or related activity if your personal information is necessary for the purposes of participation.
Vital interests
We may process your personal information when necessary to protect your vital interests and the vital interests of others. For example, to protect your health and safety and the health and safety of other participants and other third parties in connection with emergencies.

Who We Share Your Information With & Why
Disclosure of Information Related to a Production. Paramount may share information within the Paramount group of companies and third parties, including other production companies and service providers that are involved in the casting process or a production or otherwise connected to a production, including but not limited to:
Authorized Third-Party Service Providers. Paramount may share your Personal Information with third-party vendors who help Paramount with specialized services, including without limitation production support, customer support, marketing and promotional services, background checks, insurance providers, casting services, back-office services (such as payroll services), health services, event management services, ticketing, credential services, transportation and catering services.
Co-Branded Partners. We may share Personal Information with our partners with whom a Paramount service may jointly offer a co-branded service or feature. Such partner's privacy policy may also apply to its use of your Personal Information, which we recommend you review.
Co-Production and third-party production companies. We may share your personal information with other -production companies during the casting and production processes. Their respective privacy policy may also apply to their respective use of your personal information, which we recommend you review.
Business Transfers. Paramount may share your Personal Information in connection with a contemplated or actual corporate transaction, such as the sale of a Paramount service, a merger, consolidation, asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.
Legal Requirements. Paramount may disclose your personal information, including contact information, to enforce any contract or policies we have in place with you; to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, and other law enforcement measures, including to investigate and defend ourselves or others against third-party claims or allegations; and to comply with other legal obligations.
Security. Paramount may disclose your Personal Information where we believe that doing so is necessary to protect the rights, property, security, or safety of Paramount, our production participants, the public, or others.
Viewers. Any Personal Information of yours included in the content of a production will be shared with anyone who views the content and/or clips of the content throughout the world on various medium.
Broadcasters/distribution partners: The broadcaster and/or the distribution partner of the Production content (if applicable) will receive and use your personal information if the content is going to be broadcast or published in their distribution services/networks.

Your Choices, Rights and Controls
You may have certain rights and choices regarding your personal information, such as the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you. These rights are not available everywhere and may be limited by local laws. For example, these rights may not be available to you if fulfilling your request would reveal personal information about another person, or if you ask us to delete information which we are required by law to keep.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (including without limitation, the UK, the European Union, Switzerland, California (USA) Connecticut (USA), Colorado (USA), Utah (USA), or Virginia (USA), you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to confirm whether and how we process your personal information.
- The right to request access to, and a copy of, the information we hold about you, including details as to how we process your personal information.
- The right to object to or restrict our processing of your personal information.
- The right to request the erasure or deletion of your personal information.
- The right to correct, amend, or update your personal information.
- The right to request that we transfer (port) your personal information to another company or third party.
- The right to withdraw your consent to processing your personal information.
You or your authorized agent may contact the data protection officer, submit a question or a request regarding your personal information or exercise any of the rights available to you by visiting our Privacy Rights Center by calling us at (888) 841-3343 (when available in your place of residence).
Before responding to a request, we may need to ask for additional information and may send you an email to verify your identity and confirm that you submitted the request. We may also need additional information to verify that your authorized agent or representative has the authority to make a request on your behalf. We will respond to your request within the time period required under the law.

If you have any unresolved privacy concerns that we have not addressed satisfactorily after contacting us, you may have the right to appeal our decision or contact your local data protection authority to lodge a complaint.

International transfers
Paramount is a global company that may transfer your personal information to a country (including the United States) that does not provide the same level of protection for your personal information. Paramount may transfer your personal information to the Paramount family of companies, carefully selected service providers, business partners, and other third parties for the purposes described in this policy.
Whenever we transfer your personal information, we look at the risks to your information and rely on safeguards like standard contractual clauses, where applicable, to ensure your rights are protected. If we share personal information with a third party, we will require them to protect your personal information appropriately.
Retention
We will retain your personal information for the time period reasonably necessary to achieve the purposes described in this privacy policy, or any other notice provided at the time of collection unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law, taking into account applicable statutes of limitation and our records retention requirements and policies. Where we use your information for artistic or journalistic reasons as part of a completed production, we may retain this information indefinitely to the extent that this is permitted by applicable law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
From time to time, we may change this Policy to accommodate new technologies, industry practices, regulatory requirements or for other purposes. We will provide notice to you if these changes are material and, where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent.
